Wind Rose Cellars is a joint project of husband and wife team David Volmut and Jennifer States. We began making wine professionally with the 2009 Harvest. Our main focus at Wind Rose Cellars is making top quality wine from Italian varieties grown in Washington State. We produce wines made with Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Primitivo, Pinot Grigio, Orange Muscat, just to name a few. Many of these varieties are very difficult to find in Washington. From the varieties we make, many are around 100 cases per lot, with a total production of around 900 cases. Food has always been a passion for us and we regard wine as the penultimate form. Over the past few years, we’ve made a few trips to Italy–particularly Piedmont and Sicily–to try the wines, taste the food and experience the rustic Old Country. We try and convey this Old Country character in our wines. As a husband and wife team, we work on crafting our blended Italian style wines towards balance and perfection. We hope you enjoy! We began making wine with the 2009 vintage. During the 2009 vintage, we made wine at Olsen Estates winery in Prosser, Washington. As the assistant winemaker, David was allowed to make wine for Wind Rose Cellars in addition to his regular duties. In 2010, we made wine while working at Sun River Vintners in Kennewick, Washington. Here are some pictures from those Crushes.
